Hedrick Smith is a Pulitzer Prize–winning former New York Times reporter, Emmy Award- winning PBS documentary producer, and author of multiple bestsellers including The Russians, The Power Game: How Washington Works, and Who Stole the American Dream? In Smith’s twenty-six years with the Times, he covered the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War from Saigon, and the Cold War from Moscow and Washington; he reported on six presidents and served as Washington bureau chief and chief correspondent from 1976 to 1988.
