Jeroen De Bruyn, born in 1993 in Antwerp, began original research on the Secret Annex at age fifteen—the same age as Anne Frank when she died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. In 2011, he interned at the Anne Frank House, gaining firsthand experience. He later studied journalism and contributed to notable Flemish news magazines such as Knack and Joods Actueel, eventually becoming a senior editor for the prominent Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen.
