Benjamin H. Harris is a seasoned economic adviser with a longstanding association with President Joe Biden. He served as President Biden’s chief economist from 2014 until the end of the Obama administration and was the senior economic adviser for Biden’s presidential campaign. He is Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy, having previously served as Counselor to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

Harris has an extensive academic and policy background. He has been a Professor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a Senior Economist with President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, and a Senior Economist for the House Budget Committee. He has also been the Policy Director for the Hamilton Project and the Deputy Director of the Brookings Institution’s Retirement Security Project.

His scholarly work and insights have been widely published in academic journals and popular media, including regular contributions to the Wall Street Journal on retirement and personal finance.
