Fang Lizhi was a distinguished astrophysicist and was vice president of the University of Science and Technology of China. Renowned for his contributions to science and his courageous advocacy for human rights, he received the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award. Fang was also a respected professor of physics at the University of Arizona, where he continued to inspire and educate until his passing in 2012.
