Joanne Leedom-Ackerman is a distinguished novelist, short story writer, and journalist. She is the vice president emeritus of PEN International and previously chaired the organization’s Writers in Prison Committee during the imprisonment of Liu Xiaobo. Additionally, Leedom-Ackerman served as the International Secretary of PEN International during Liu Xiaobo’s presidency of the Independent Chinese PEN Center (ICPC).
