Nirupama Rao is a distinguished diplomat and scholar who served as India’s Foreign Secretary from 2009 to 2011. Her illustrious career includes roles as Ambassador to China and the United States, High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Renowned for her expertise on India-China relations and the India-China border, Rao has also taught at Brown and Columbia Universities and was a Pacific Leadership Fellow at UC San Diego. She is a Global Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center and the founder of the South Asian Symphony Orchestra, which fosters cultural dialogue and cooperation among young South Asians.
