Xu Hongci (1933–2008) was a renowned writer from Shanghai who faced severe persecution during Mao Zedong’s regime. In 1957, he was branded a rightist and imprisoned in labor reform camps for fourteen years. After his escape, Xu resettled first in Tsetserleg and later returned to Shanghai with his wife Oyunbileg and their children, where he lived until his death in 2008.
